Year End Giving

Do you wait until the end of the year to make your gifts? You are not alone. 

Research shows that 30% of charitable donations are made in December, and 10% occurs in just the last three days of the year.

At the Community Foundation, we are grateful and acknowledge your philanthropic spirit and the generosity of our fund holders throughout the entire year. You've continued to demonstrate a strong commitment to community by maintaining and establishing new funds and recommending hundreds of grants to local nonprofit organizations.

We are here to assist you with carrying out your end-of-year philanthropic goals. Please see below for deadlines regarding year-end giving activities:

• STOCK AND CASH GIFTS (check, wire, online) 
  • Gifts submitted to the Community Foundation by Dec. 31 will be earmarked as a 2026 contribution. Note: The gift must be in the Community Foundation's account by Dec. 31 to be eligible for a 2026 tax deduction.
• CHECKS
  • Mail to: Community Foundation for Western Iowa
    536 E Broadway, Council Bluffs, IA 51503
  • Please include the name of the Fund in the memo line of the check
  • Checks mailed can be earmarked as a 2026 contribution if postmarked by the US Postal Service on or before Dec. 31.
• ONLINE DONATIONS
  • Donations to public funds through our online donation platform must be made on or before Dec. 31 to be eligible for a 2026 tax deduction. If you wish to make a donation to your individual or family fund online, please call us at 712.256.7007 for your unique donation link.
